CAIS utilizes the curriculum and is accredited to provide the diploma of Alberta Education, Canada. The Alberta Curriculum has earned the accolades of universities throughout the world due to the quality of students produced in the province.
As an example, Alberta students ranked 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the world in science, reading and math respectively in recently published results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), a worldwide evaluation of 15 year old school children’s scholastic performance involving students from 57 different countries and regions.
A sound curriculum is important, but even more important is the manner in which the curriculum is taught. CAIS has adopted a student centered, inquiry based approach that emphasizes technology integration across the curriculum. This approach serves students well in preparing for life after CAIS.
In addition, the Secondary program provides opportunities for students to enroll in a number of Advanced Placement® (AP®) courses that can be counted toward the 100 credit Alberta Diploma requirement. These courses are recognized by many higher learning institutions worldwide as entry level university credits. The Advanced Placement® program is continuously enhanced in response to student demand.
